Place where the distinguished poet and patriot José María Heredia was born on December 31, 1803. He died in Mexico on May 12, 1839, during his exile. He is considered one of the greatest American lyricists, the first of the great Cuban poets. Because of its historical and architectural values, the birth house of the first romantic poet of America, José María Heredia, is created to preserve one of the relics of the colonial era in the city of Santiago de Cuba.<br><br>
